It always comes at the most in opportune times, but at one time or another, we have all experienced the discomfort of bloating, abdominal pain, gas, diarrhea or constipation. Unfortunately for many people this has become a daily occurrence. Traditionally, triggers have thought to have been anything from stress, eating certain foods, stomach or bowel infections. In an attempt to solve digestive distress many have focused on these symptoms as the cause while others simply have masked the problem with antacids.
So if you have a bulk supply of antacids or going out with friends is problematic, read on for chiropractic care may hold a natural solution to your daily digestion distress.
Understanding Poor Plumbing
Our bodies’ processes were designed to function all with well-balanced cycles. For example, if you eat three meals a day, then ideally you should be having 2-3 bowel movements a day. Anything less than that means that the waste that your body is trying to remove is sitting in your body for longer than it should. This may result in many health issues including toxicity, poor skin, poor digestion, body pain, bad breath or body odor and much more.
At each level of your spine, nerves feed organs, glands and tissues vital messages from the brain. What has been found to be common with people who have digestive problems such as bloating, diarrhea, constipation, IBS and Crohns is that often the low back is compromised. Meaning a misalignment in the spine is present in the low back, which can affect the brains communication with the organs, glands and tissues in the lower part of the body. The pressure on the nervous system that results from chronic undetected spinal misalignments can have significant effects on digestion and the absorption of nutrients and liquids.
Help for Crohns Disease
Crohn’s Disease is an inflammatory bowel disease and its prevalence is increasing in western societies. The symptoms are most commonly diarrhea and stomach pain, but weight loss and irritability are also characteristic of the disease. Up until now, typical treatment for Crohn’s has been with various drugs such as antihistamines, antibiotics, immunosuppressants and artificial hormones. Unfortunately for many, these drugs are considered unsatisfactory and there are a long list of side effects that go along with these drugs. Many sufferers often require reoccurring hospitalization and even surgery.
Good news is here! In recent studies on “Chronic Nerve Compression,” Spinal misalignments played a significant role in the cause of Crohn’s Disease and other digestive problems.
Chiropractic Can Help
The road to health is in the discovery that there is an alternative to conventional and sometimes dangerous laxatives and medical methods of attempting to improve bowel function. In the recovery to better health you should not only make a change in diet and nutrition, but also improve the health and the state of your spine and nervous system.

As more and more of you find yourself outside doing physical activities, it is important to make sure that your body is in the best position to take advantage of all your hard work. Whether you are running as a sport, hiking, cycling or simply going for a walk, you need to appreciate the importance of keeping your body in the correct alignment for the most enjoyment with maximum benefit.
A Healthy Investment
In order to get the most out of the valuable time you spend exercising, we want to ensure that your musculoskeletal system is working effectively and efficiently. Bones, joints, and muscles need to be able to go through a full range of motion in order to exercise properly. Any limitation of mobility might cause an injury, which would not only be painful but would set back your normal exercise schedule.
A healthy spine and posture is so important and especially critical for athletes, or anyone who exercises regularly. Many people are unaware that they can have a difference of 2 to 10 pounds in their weight distribution. Add the pressure of running, riding or any other sport and over time and major damage can occur.
Regular chiropractic care is designed to create balance in the body and helps you enjoy a full exercise program and reap all the benefits that exercise brings by helping make sure that your muscles, bones, and joints are working to their best ability.
What the Research Says
Research today is now proving what thousands of happy chiropractic athletes have been enjoying for decades.
In a study of 50 athletes, chiropractic athletes improved 16.7 per cent, including a more than 30 per cent improvement in reaction time, after 12 weeks. The study concluded, “That [chiropractic] athletes react faster, have better coordination, executes fine movements with improved accuracy and precision, amounting to an overall better athlete.”
Get A Check-Up!
If you are partaking in a sport that includes running, where efficient coordination of movement is paramount, a chiropractic checkup should be vital to see if you are getting the most out of your efforts in both training and racing. If you are in competitive running sports we further recommend a chiropractor who uses X-rays to accurately assess pelvic alignment and leg-length difference, which are extremely important to running at your peak potential and avoiding unnecessary injury.
Remember regular chiropractic care supports all your exercise activities. The converse is true as well, regular exercise helps support chiropractic care.

The typical modern diet and activity level creates regular occurrences of unhealthy blood sugar levels in your body. Blood sugar is a term used to describe the amount of the sugar glucose that is in currently in your blood. Glucose is the primary sugar, or carbohydrate, in your body. When you eat food, nutrients are absorbed from your food by your digestive system. They are then transmitted to all of your bodies’ tissues through your blood. Your body uses a series of mechanisms to keep the concentration of sugar (and other substances) in your blood within certain ranges.
Certain organs, such as your brain, run almost exclusively on glucose. So your body keeps blood sugar levels from dropping below a certain threshold, or level. However, your body also strives to keep glucose from rising to levels that are too high.
High Blood Sugar Levels
Clinically, constant spikes in your blood sugar damage your body. There are both short-term and long-term effects of high blood sugar. A single, sharp rise in blood sugar will create a large insulin release, preventing fat burning, promoting fat storage, and also will result in fatigue and fuzzy-headedness. Constant, chronic high blood sugar levels are associated with all of the chronic diseases, most notably obesity, heart disease and diabetes, but high blood sugar levels are also associated with several types of cancer.
However, a holistic approach is always critical to ensure that your fuel contains all of the essential elements your body needs. Total energy consumption, nutrient content, variety, and food quality are all key aspects to understand, along with your fuel’s effect on your blood sugar.
